Islamabad has declared that its main road would be named after the late humanitarian Dr. Ruth Pfau as a touching homage to her. German-Pakistani doctor Dr. Pfau has devoted her life to treating the underprivileged and eradicating leprosy in Pakistan. She won the nation’s esteem and affection for her altruistic actions.
To recognize Dr. Pfau’s unrelenting commitment to the welfare of Pakistan’s most vulnerable communities, it was decided to rename the capital’s main avenue in her honor. Numerous lives were affected by her work at the Marie Adelaide Leprosy Center, and the nation’s perspective of leprosy was altered.
The naming of the road honors Dr. Pfau’s legacy and serves as a reminder of the difference one person can make.
