Pakistan will play only Two home games in Asia Cup! Najam Sethi

During a press conference, Chairman Najam Sethi announced that the Pakistan cricket team will play two home matches in the upcoming Asia Cup 2023. Originally, Pakistan was scheduled to host the first four matches of the tournament, but the Board of Cricket Control in India (BCCI) declined to tour Pakistan. To address this, Sethi confirmed that Pakistan would have at least two home matches instead of just one against Nepal. The Asia Cup will feature six teams divided into two groups, and Pakistan is grouped with India and Nepal.

The tournament, played in the One-Day International (ODI) format, holds significance as preparation for the Asian teams ahead of the ICC Men’s World Cup. However, due to political reasons, the BCCI opted for a neutral venue, and the tournament will not be hosted in Pakistan. BCCI Secretary Jay Shah stated that having a neutral venue for the Asia Cup is not unprecedented, and they have decided not to travel to Pakistan.

Despite the change in hosting plans, cricket fans in Pakistan can still look forward to watching their team play two matches at home in the Asia Cup 2023. The announcement by Chairman Najam Sethi provides a glimmer of excitement for cricket enthusiasts as they eagerly await the tournament, which will undoubtedly showcase thrilling cricket encounters between the top teams in the continent.
