Punjab sets new standard rate for dengue testing

During a meeting on measures against dengue, Dr. Nasir stated that the Health Department has enlisted over 1,500 fresh recruits to join the endeavors against dengue. He highlighted the significance of training these individuals and ensuring their active presence in the field.

Dr. Nasir also underscored the necessity for private housing schemes to hire sanitary workers in proportion to their size and actively participate in anti-dengue endeavors within their respective areas. He urged the heads of all government departments to furnish certificates attesting to their adherence to standard operating procedures (SOPs) in their offices and government residences.

To prevent the proliferation of dengue mosquitoes during the monsoon season, Dr. Nasir directed the Health Department’s field teams to escalate dengue surveillance efforts and engage the public for assistance. He emphasized that dengue fever poses a grave risk to human health and that curtailing mosquito breeding is the sole effective solution. Weekly meetings at the district and tehsil levels should be conducted to monitor dengue-related activities, and an awareness campaign involving the public, scholars, and teachers should be initiated.
